Editor’s note: This the last week of prayer for Suzhou, a beautiful city of about 13 million in Jiangsu Province. Suzhou is famous for its gardens and waterways, and is seen as a city of ease and comfort. Suzhou pastors say their top prayer request is for more gospel laborers, because they worry about passing the faith on to the next generation.
Pray for Laborers
China Partnership: How can we pray for your churches and your families?
Pastor Song: Pray that preaching workers will be raised up to preach and serve in our church. Pray for sound church polity, because we’ve now transitioned to have joint governance by the pastoral team and the congregation. We want that polity to be better practiced in the church.
Personally, pray for my child, who has some cognitive delays. Ask God to work in his own timing.
Preacher Yu: Pray that our church will clearly proclaim the gospel in the city of Suzhou. Ask the Lord to raise up brothers and sisters in the church who can live out gospel witness in the workplace.
Pray that God will keep our family. Pray that we will have grace and joy in the church, and that my wife and I will be better in sync, more united, and better coordinated in serving together.
Pray that our church will clearly proclaim the gospel in the city of Suzhou.
Elder Huang: Pray for our church – right now we have several preachers, but we still need workers. Pray that workers would clearly and correctly proclaim God’s gospel message and the truth of the gospel. Even more, pray that the church can join a system to help us make the sorts of connections needed to find these workers.
For our family, pray, because we as a couple both serve full-time. Both of us go out early in the morning, and we truly have gatherings basically every night. On the one hand, it’s God’s grace – there are a few of the older generation in our home, and sometimes they can help care for the child. Because both my wife and I are so busy, pray that God will keep us, and our family will be cared for. Especially pray for health, and that we will be kept by God’s grace.
Pray for our church – right now we have several preachers, but we still need workers.
Streams Make Glad
CP: Is there a Scripture verse or passage that especially represents Suzhou?
Preacher Yu: Well, I asked AI. And, because Suzhou has much water, AI gave me an answer from the Psalms.
Never miss a story
Psalm 46:4 says: “There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High.”
Pastor Song, Preacher Yu, and Elder Huang are pseudonyms for house church leaders in Suzhou.
Pray for more gospel laborers to serve and lead Suzhou churches.
