China Partnership: What passage of Scripture do you feel is representative of Wuhan?
Xu Yao: Jonah 3:3:
“So Jonah arose and went to Nineveh, according to the word of the Lord. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, three days’ journey in breadth.”
So may the Lord give us obedient hearts to go to Ninevah, to go to Wuhan. May he give us a heart that loves souls in this “exceeding great city,” to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ so that more people – every living person – can hear the gospel of Christ.
Ben: I thought of Psalm 46:4:
“There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High.”
Wuhan is divided into three towns by the Yangtze and Han Rivers. These rivers also have branches. I hope that the branches of this river “make glad the city of God,” and that Wuhan may be pleasing to God, because this city will become “the holy habitation of the Most High.” This is my prayer for Wuhan.

The river also symbolizes the flow of life, and God’s provision.
