The problem with testimonies from the past are, first, not very many people know about them, and second, they are in the past. But how the Chinese house churches react to the new regulations and bear witness for Christ today could have an unimaginably positive influence on the future of the gospel movement in China.
Some churches’ responses are not based on theology, but are based on different sources of information, different understandings of the situation, personal experiences, and even fear. There is lots of worldly stuff here that we try to dress up as theology, and this is extremely dangerous.
Lord, we thank you! May you yourself truly fulfill all these things, and may your own name be lifted high through all these things! Even if they are sentenced to prison, even if they have no way to be set free, even if their wives and children are left by themselves to be scorned, ridiculed, and profaned, but in the end, Christ’s name will be exalted and your glory will be seen by the whole world!
Brothers and sisters, does Spring Festival belong to them or does it belong to us? In the final analysis, it belongs to us. Among a Jesus-resistant people group, the highest ideal can only be fragmentation. If we do not eradicate the root problem, the country cannot be saved. If Spring Festival does not undergo a rebirth, it will become a great tragedy in Chinese culture.

After hearing the testimony of church planting, I am no longer worried. I had wanted to build Rome in one day; but now I rely on Christ, facing each day’s hardship one day at a time; to live a day [at a time] and be faithful each day. Daily seeking God’s kingdom and God’s righteousness.
On the morning of Saturday, September 1, 2018, one of China’s leading house churches, Early Rain Covenant Church in Chengdu, posted a joint statement on Facebook declaring its stance on the new religious regulations. So far, the document has been signed by 116 church leaders across the country and the call for signatures remains open.
Prayer meetings are good, but you cannot force people to pray. Even if they join a prayer meeting, if their heart is away from the Lord or from each other, prayer is [just] a show.
It is really hard to change the environment in China. But the church can be a blessing to society. We truly believe that real change and real renewal can only be brought forth by the gospel and by Christians.
The church does not belong to this world. The powers of the world can never really destroy us. Even at the strongest point of the power of darkness, that is when the church grows the most and is at its most powerful.
