At China Partnership, we help support a gospel movement aimed at planting gospel-centered churches (and renewing existing churches) in Chinese cities. We’d love for you to partner with us. Learn more about some of the cities we serve, or join us as we pray for ministry to the city in China.
For much of its history, the roots of the church in China have not always been established in grace-based theology. Instead, many Chinese believers have at times been overly-focused on purity and piety. But by doing so, they can miss the gospel itself! This leads to legalism, exhaustion, and joylessness.
The solution to this dilemma, however, is not found merely through adjusting one’s theology: the solution is through encounter with Jesus Christ himself. The person and work of Jesus are the very definition of the gospel, and only his Spirit can empower the kind of gospel change necessary to bring renewed life and vision.
At China Partnership, we help support a gospel movement in China. The goal of this gospel movement is to help re-center the Chinese church at large in the historic doctrines of grace, revolving around the person and work of Jesus himself. Such gospel renewal is vital if the church in China is to take root and weather any storm. It is vital for the flourishing of the house church and its pastors. And it is vital for the salvation of the lost people in the Middle Kingdom.
Hear from Rev. Tim Keller and others on why the gospel must be central to all aspects of ministry: how we approach culture, how we approach our families, how we approach church planting, and how we approach our own lives.
At China Partnership, we believe prayer should be at the very foundation of all we do. Because of this, we also believe prayer should also be at the very foundation of all that the Chinese church does. Over the last few years, and especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, many Chinese churches have begun to experience a renewed emphasis on prayer. Thus, we think it is only fitting, as a part of our prayer ministry, to pray for their prayer ministry. We need to pray for the Chinese church to pray!
Over 1.4 billion people live in China. Yet more than 1.3 billion of China’s population does not know Christ. There is a great need for the gospel in China, but as the country increasingly closes its doors to the West this need is being met first and foremost by the indigenous Chinese church. We can join with them in this kingdom work by helping provide resources, training, encouragement, and prayer.
The gospel movement in China has grown rapidly over the last decade, and many churches have been planted. But these churches are young. Now, as pressure on the church increases, church leaders are realizing that discipleship is a key area of need for sustainability. Join us in praying that that the church in China will develop a Christ-centered vision for discipleship, grow deeper in the gospel, and pass down the Good News to the next generation.
As the gospel movement has spread in China, there is a growing hunger for biblical and theological depth. This hunger is not rooted in a desire for more “head knowledge” alone, but rather for continued growth in the rich gospel of grace. There is a great need for the production and translation of more gospel-centered resources, and for gifted trainers to be raised up who are theologically competent and whose lives model Christlike character.
Despite rising persecution in China, many Christians there have not lost their desire to plant new churches. There remains a great desire to form new Christ-honoring communities that can be a “city on a hill” (Matt. 5:14) by showing the world what Jesus is like. At China Partnership, we help support this indigenous church planting movement.
With rising pressure and persecution in China, there are two challenges imperative for church leaders. The first challenge is for current leaders to love Christ above all else, and not to stray into legalism or love of the world. The second challenge is to raise up the next generation of leaders, who will humbly model Jesus even if current leaders are arrested.
